Regarding paper oatmeal packets; all are impregnated with plastic (composite materials) to ensure optimal quality over the full shelf life and can only be disposed of with regular trash.

We have recently been doing a lot of research into our packaging options and are currently in the beginning stages of a new sustainability initiative which is likely to include “how 2 recycle” (http://how2recycle.info/) packaging, compostable packaging, and/or that which is made from post-consumer recycled materials (PCR), which will help reduce the use of virgin plastics.
